Hospice & Palliative Care Music Therapy Institute

~June 12-15, 2010 at Seasons Hospice and Palliative Care in Baltimore, MD

This course provides music therapists with in depth training of the needs of terminally ill patients and their families. The course offers advanced techniques and affords participants opportunities to practice skills in a clinical setting. In addition, they will learn the business aspects of hospice music therapy and will be able to write business proposals to create new music therapy programs and expand existing programs. Participants earn 50 Specialty CMTEs.

In this course, participants will:

~Learn to identify the clinical needs of people with a terminal illness

~Create and evaluate music therapy interventions to meet those needs

~Practice skills under supervision in a clinical setting

~Learn how to establish a new music therapy program or expand an existing program in an end of life care setting

~Identify funding sources to establish a program

Registration Fee: $600 includes course materials

Schedule:

Saturday: 8:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.
*includes four, 15-minute breaks and a working lunch

Sunday: 8:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.
*includes four, 15-minute breaks and a working lunch

Monday: 8:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.
*includes four, 15-minute breaks and a working lunch

Tuesday: 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
*includes three, 15-minute breaks and a working lunch

Homework assignment: There is a post-course homework assignment that is to be emailed to the instructor. On average, this assignment takes 4 hours to complete.
