Grief & Loss Music Therapy Institute 
~August 28-31, 2010 at Holy Cross Hospital, Chicago 

This course provides music therapists with in depth training of the needs of grieving children and adults. The course offers advanced techniques and affords participants opportunities to practice skills in a clinical setting. The business aspects of creating or expanding MT programs in bereavement settings will be discussed and funding sources will be identified. Participants earn 50 Specialty CMTEs.

 Participants in this course will:

~Learn to identify the clinical needs of poeple who are faced with grief and loss          

~Create and evaluate music therapy interventions to meet those needs

~Practice skills under supervision in role-play scenarios

~Understand the funding opportunities available for bereavement work


 
Registration Fees: $600

Schedule:

   Saturday: 8:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.
   *includes four, 15-minute breaks and a working lunch


   Sunday: 8:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m., 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.
   *includes four, 15-minute breaks and a working lunch


   Monday: 8:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m., 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.
   *includes four, 15-minute breaks and a working lunch


   Tuesday: 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
   *includes three, 15-minute breaks and a working lunch


Homework assignment: There is a post-course homework assignment that is to be emailed to the instructor.  On average, this assignment takes 4 hours to complete.

If a large group stays at one hotel, it may be possible to arrange a shuttle from the hotel center to the hospital, otherwise, a taxi cab is suggested for transport to/from the hospital and hotels.
