Hospice & Palliative Care Music Therapy Certificate

Music therapists (MT-BC) who complete the Centers' coursework will earn the Hospice & Palliative Care Music Therapy Certificate (HPMT). Required courses include:

~Hospice & Palliative Care Music Therapy Institute
~Grief & Loss Music Therapy Institute
~Death & Dying Course or Counseling Skills Course

The Institutes are offered through the:

~ Great Lakes Center for Music Therapy in End of Life Care at 
   Eastern Michigan University (Ypsilanti, MI) and
   Seasons Hospice & Palliative Care (Chicago, IL)

~ East Coast Center for Music Therapy in End of Life Care at 
   Berklee College of Music (Boston, MA)

*The Death & Dying course may be taken at any college nationwide as long as it earns 3 credits. The Counseling Skills courses offered through the Centers for Music Therapy in End of Life Care will also count towards the Certificate.

The Institutes provide experiential as well as didactic learning opportunities. In addition, clinical practica are included in the 4-day trainings through an exclusive partnership with Seasons Hospice & Palliative Care.

In completing their HPMT Certificate, participants will possibly earn over 100 CMTE Credits. Each Institute earns participants 50 Specialty CMTEs, for a total of 100 Specialty CMTE credits for attending the Hospice and Grief & Loss Institutes.

The Institutes are taught by Dr. Russell Hilliard and guest lecturers.
